Growth and the Elverta Specific Plan

The communities of Rio Linda and Elverta have shown slow growth over the last twenty five years. The population in 1980, 1990, and 2000 was 18,000, 18,910, and 20,185 respectively. The most recent subdivision was the Beazer development in southwestern Elverta which was opened in 2003 with 110 homes on 23 1/2 acres. That is all about to change. In 2007, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved the Elverta Specific Plan which provides for the development of 1700 acres in eastern Elverta which will have 4,900 homes. It is anticipated that when built out, it will add 15,000 more residents to the Rio Linda Elverta community. Additionally, Placer County in 2007 approved the Placer Vineyards which is directly across the county line north of Elverta which will have 15,000 homes and 45,000 more people. The County and the City of Sacramento are discussing the development of the Natomas Vision which is immediately to the west of Rio Linda and Elverta which is over 6,000 acres and will extend the present Natomas development with thousands of additional homes. The Rio Linda Elverta rural life style is under siege.
